Free AI Color Analysis
Color analysis works out which colors suit you by measuring three things about your natural coloring: whether it is warm or cool, light or deep, and soft or bright. This tool does that from a photo in your browser, or from a twelve question quiz, and gives you one of the twelve seasons plus the full palette that goes with it. It is free, there is no signup, and your photo never leaves your device.

How to take a photo that gives a reliable result
- Daylight, facing a window. Overhead bulbs are warm and will push the reading warm.
- No makeup, especially no foundation. It is the single largest source of error.
- Hair back and off your face, and use the quiz instead if your hair is dyed far from its natural colour.
- No filter, no beauty mode, and nothing brightly coloured near your face.

How it works
Both paths measure the same three dimensions and run the same classifier, so the photo and the quiz are not two different products. They are two ways of filling in the same three numbers.
-
01
Measure
The photo path finds your face, samples skin, hair and eye pixels, corrects for the lighting cast using the whites of your eyes as a neutral reference, and converts the samples to CIELAB. The quiz path asks you twelve questions instead.
-
02
Place you on three axes
Warm to cool, light to deep, soft to bright. Whichever axis is furthest from neutral is your dominant dimension, and that is what names your season.
-
03
Show the working
You get the season, a confidence score, the axis readings that produced it, and the neighbouring season if the call was close. Then the palette.
Your photo never leaves your device
Face detection and color sampling run in your browser using WebAssembly. The image is never uploaded, never stored and never sent anywhere. What reaches this server is three numbers between minus one and one, plus a quality score, which is not enough to reconstruct anything about you.
You can verify this. Open your browser's network tab before you run the analysis and watch what gets sent. There is no upload request because there is no upload endpoint.
Is color analysis accurate?
Partly, and it is worth being specific about which part. The framework itself is sound: warm and cool undertones are real, and matching the depth and clarity of a color to the depth and clarity of your own coloring genuinely changes how you look in a photograph.
What is not exact is the measurement. Lighting, screen calibration, makeup and dyed hair all move the reading, and professional analysts disagree on borderline cases too. That is why this tool shows a confidence score rather than claiming ninety seven percent accuracy like most of the competition. When confidence is low, take the quiz as well and see whether the two agree.
Start from your undertone
Undertone is one of three dimensions and it is the one people get stuck on. These pages cover the tests that work, the two that do not, and what your answer narrows you down to.
Questions people ask
- Is this color analysis really free?
- Yes, completely, with no account and no email required. The site is supported by advertising. Nothing is held back behind a payment.
- How is my photo used?
- It is not used at all, because it never reaches us. Analysis happens in your browser and only three numbers are sent to render your result page. There is no upload endpoint on this server.
- How accurate is AI color analysis from a photo?
- Good enough to be useful, not good enough to be certain. The main limit is lighting: a warm indoor bulb can push a cool person warm. The tool corrects for the cast using the whites of your eyes and then lowers its own confidence when the correction was large. Take the quiz as a second opinion whenever confidence comes back low.
- What are the 12 color seasons?
- Light Spring, True Spring, Bright Spring, Light Summer, True Summer, Soft Summer, Soft Autumn, True Autumn, Dark Autumn, Dark Winter, True Winter and Bright Winter. They are the four classic seasons split three ways each, by which dimension dominates a person's coloring.
- Do I need to take my makeup off?
- Yes, ideally, and tie your hair back too. Foundation changes your skin reading more than anything else in the picture, and it is the most common reason a photo result disagrees with the quiz.
- Does dyed hair affect the result?
- It affects the photo path, because the tool samples the hair it can see. If your hair is dyed a long way from your natural color, use the quiz instead and answer the hair questions about your natural color.
